Portobello Swim Centre, Portobello
Portobello Swim Centre is a prominent and historical part of the local area in Portobello and formed a substantial contract involving renovation and conservation of the external fabric. The swim centre remained operational as a leisure facility throughout our works and was located on the promenade in a very busy pedestrian area. All of our works were coordinated to ensure minimum disruption and comprised of the following. Natural stone repairs and repointing to the chimneys, complete stripping and reslating in Scotch slate to all the elevations identified including a substantial replacement of lead flashings and the renewal and replacement of timber dormers including painting, the overhauling and replacement of cast iron rainwater goods as well as renewal of bituminous felt roofing surfaces. The main elevations identified formed part of a substantial stone replacement contract as well as complete raking and repointing of the areas noted. The external balcony and dormers were a historical feature which was completely renewed in timber and to the existing details and reopened for the building user, including painter work.
